# Unblocking a CPQ and deal-desk backlog

**Evidence type:** proof (what happened)

A marketing-technology company's Salesforce CPQ process was failing in ways that stopped real deals from moving. LeanScale worked the backlog — a blocked multi-year renewal, stale contract templates, misfiring renewal automation — and shipped the fixes to production.

## The challenge

The Salesforce CPQ and deal-desk process was throwing errors that stopped real deals: a multi-year renewal that would not progress, quotes failing outright, and auto-renewal emails misfiring. Legal had updated the order-form and master-agreement language but the templates had not caught up, resellers needed different renewal terms than direct customers, and reactivating a cancelled customer left a stale cancellation status behind on the record.

## The approach

Unblocking the stuck renewal
Diagnosed and cleared the multi-year renewal that would not progress through the quote process, then fixed the underlying quote failures behind it.

Bringing the paper current
Shipped legal's updated order-form and master-agreement language into the templates, added a per-deal custom-agreement override for negotiated paper, and built order-form date-display toggles so the document reflects the deal that was actually struck.

Reseller and reactivation edge cases
Configured distinct reseller renewal terms, and a cancellation-status reset that fires when a cancelled customer reactivates so their record stops reporting as churned.

Catalog migration
Executed a product SKU migration to the current product version across the catalog and the quotes that referenced it.

## Outcomes

Backlog cleared to production
The blocked multi-year renewal, the updated order-form and master-agreement language, the per-deal custom-agreement override, the reseller renewal terms, the date-display toggles, the reactivation status reset and the SKU migration all shipped to production inside the window.

Quote and renewal automation fixed
The failing quotes and misfiring auto-renewal notifications were resolved as part of the same wave of fixes.
